How to File a Warranty Claim

Filing a warranty claim is easier when you are prepared. This guide walks through gathering the right documents, confirming coverage, describing the issue, and preparing a clean submission. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

Start with the right documents

Before contacting the warranty provider, gather your proof of purchase, product details, and evidence of the issue. Having everything ready speeds up the process and reduces back-and-forth.

Proof of purchase

Receipts are often the most important document. A receipt shows what you bought, when, and where. Use the Receipt Scanner to keep a copy attached to your warranty record.

Product details

  • Model name and number
  • Serial number
  • Warranty plan or provider
  • Registration information

Issue evidence

Photos, notes, and a short description of when the problem started help the provider understand the claim. Keep these with your warranty record.

Confirm the warranty is still active

Check the expiration date in your Warranty Tracker before you start. If coverage has ended, the provider may deny the claim.

Describe the issue clearly

  • Be factual and specific.
  • Include the date or timeframe the issue began.
  • Attach supporting evidence such as photos.

Prepare the submission before you send it

Use the AI Claim Assistant to organize your information into a clean draft before contacting the provider. Review everything carefully before submitting.

Common reasons claims may be denied

  • Expired coverage
  • Missing proof of purchase
  • An issue excluded by the warranty terms
  • Insufficient documentation
